A modern chandelier brings splendor and wonder to any room and helps create an intimate subspace.
The American Heritage Dictionary defines a chandelier as “a branched, decorative lighting fixture that holds several bulbs or candles and is suspended from a ceiling.” The branching of a modern chandelier fills out and defines space within a room.
We have picked out ten of our favorite modern chandeliers for your viewing pleasure. Most of our choices reference back to a vintage circular candlelit design and a few embrace branch-like lighting qualities in a new and unique way.

5-Go Lightly
Designed by Barabara Barry for Visual Comfort
Visual Comfort’s Go Lightly modern chandelier truly lives up to its name by acting as a light, minimal-inspired lighting piece. The chandelier’s most prominent feature is its framework built from durable metallic material and molded into a thin yet stable angular arm.
These arms hold up silk shades, each of which is cradling a bulb. The result is not only warm, ambient lighting, but a cohesive and comforting lighting aura.
6-Beckham
Produced by Thomas O’brien
The Beckham 24 Light modern chandelier by TOB by Thomas OBrien is a contemporary interior lighting piece dedicated to providing a steady stream of soft, ambient lighting while retaining a noticeably chic and modern form factor.
Since the piece utilizes a torpedo candelabra socket to provide its distinctive lighting, the piece utilizes vertical rods where lamping can be placed on each end. This results in the piece providing a warm, encompassing lighting experience suitable for use in spaces like living rooms, kitchen spaces, and dining areas.
7-Cesily
Produced by Huxe
The Cesily LED modern chandelier from Huxe is a sleek piece composed throughout of appealing, smooth metal. Dropping from the ceiling is a rounded down-rod that leads to a central disc.
A set of six matching arms extend from this disc, each spaced evenly around the central point and ending with a candelabra-styled cylindrical shade. An integrated LED rests within each of these shades, sending out an even layer of light.
8-Sommerard
Designed by Aerin and produced by Visual Comfort

9-MCL-SP3
Designed by Serge Mouille in 1958 and produced by Guéridon
A slight angle at the end of each arm allows this classic design to be equally at home on the ceiling when used as a pendant lamp. With rotating heads on fixed arms, the versatility is only rivaled by its beauty.
Available in white or black and with brass swivels connecting the shades.
10-Wireflow
Designed by Arik Lévy in 2013 and produced by Vibia.
Available in numerous shapes: 2D Lineal, 3D Square, 3d Hexagonal, & 3D Octagonal
The supporting structure for the Wireflow 3D is constructed by using a black electrical cable and a 4.5 Watt LED light source; the lamp is characterized by these same materials, which define the collection.
In the Wireflow modern chandelier collection, electrical cables trace three-dimensional geometries, which despite their large size, create a sense of transparency that defines its captivating graphic feel.
